The cervix is the entrance to your womb and sits between your vagina and uterus.
It feels like a round donut or ball high inside your vagina.
If you haven’t conceived, your cervix will feel firm before your period, like an unripened fruit.
If you are pregnant, your cervix will feel soft .
Is your cervix hard early pregnancy?
In early pregnancy, your cervix will become soft and high in your vagina. This is one of the first things that happens after fertilization. Your cervix will then harden but stay high. As your pregnancy progresses, the cervix will again get softer, which helps allow for childbirth.
How can you tell if your cervix is open or closed?
Around ovulation, the cervix is soft (like your ear lobe), slightly open and may be positioned high up in your abdomen. Other times it’s firmer (like the tip of your nose), tightly closed and may be positioned lower down in your abdomen (2–5).
How many days before your period does your cervix drop?
A woman’s fertile phase usually starts about three to five days before ovulation, until the egg is released. If you feel your cervix it should be higher, softer, wetter and slightly more open when compared to the previous days.
Does cervix open during early pregnancy?
Before pregnancy, your cervix — the lower part of the uterus that opens to the vagina — is normally closed and firm. As pregnancy progresses and you prepare to give birth, the cervix gradually softens, decreases in length (effaces) and opens (dilates).
